Summer is here
Finally, summer has come to what seemed like the land of endless cold. It’s been warm and sunny for a week now, and I even went swimming outside today for the first time this year. What I love most about summer though is the air, it just feels and smells totally different, and it’s like you can breathe in a totally different way. I’ve been taking some lovely walks around our local lake, and since my camera decided to work after all, I took some photos which you can view here. The ducks were very sweet, I was able to get really close to them, and after a while they even started following me. That was quite funny, as I imagined coming home followed by a pack of ducks, but they lost interest when they discovered that I didn’t have any food. Later I discovered some adorable ducklings swimming around on the lake, I need to get a picture of those as well.
One great thing about Norway is that the summer days are so long, the sun doesn’t set until almost midnight, which is really great, and rather romantic as well. That long, dark winter suddenly seems worthwhile when the summer comes, and it also helps us appreciate the sunny, warm weather even more. In general, life is good, and I realize more and more how important it is to be happy about the little things. Even something like the smell in the air or some hungry ducks can make your day if you take the time to appreciate it. So, what do you like best about the summer?

I don’t like summer much, I prefer winter and darkness.

Those pictures are beautiful, I love the way everything looks in spring and summer. The weather’s been wonderful here in the Netherlands for the past week as well. If this persists I’m going to have to go swimming at my parents’ place, but the water’s probably quite cold still. I do find myself complaining about the heat a lot, but I think I still prefer summer to any other season.

I love summer! I’m so happy it’s here. It would be nice to have long days, but I don’t think I could handle the long, dark winters of Norway. It must make you appreciate the sun a lot more though.

Beautiful pictures indeed. Look at the flowers, wow! It´s lovely summer started for you.
For us in Germany we had a weird switch straight away from winter into summer. Not pleasant at all, I tell ya.
What I like during summer is the smell of flowers, the birds chirping and long nights outside.
