I got a job!

Jul 5

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity of useless job advertisements and applications that didn’t pay off, I have a job. What surprises me most about it is how the job hunting situation was suddenly turned upside down, my future boss actually seemed very happy to have found someone that would work for her. When she called me back the first thing she did was to ask me if I did want the job, just to make sure, as if I had to consider my 10 other great job offers. Another funny part is the place that I’ll be working in. It’s a place that rents cabins to tourists (the way I understood it), and it’s high up in the mountains, so I’ll actually be benefiting from the parts of Norway that I’ve always found funny, and the fact that tourists seem to think that they’re magnificent.

Of course, there are some downsides with the job, like the fact that there is no cinema in the mountains, so I had to sell my ticket to the premiere of the fifth Harry Potter movie. I’m also hoping that the postman is willing to carry the seventh book into the mountains so I can read it before any spoilers start floating around, but when I think about it the spoiler floating density is probably inversely proportional to the height above sea level. Also, according to different sources, I seem to have a rather optimistic idea of how long I can work before it’s time go home to prepare for my first year living away from home. Come on, honestly, you don’t need a week to move out, I really don’t have that many shoes.

Also, Internet access is limited to once a week, yes, it sounds so cruel, doesn’t it? However, I try to look on the bright side, if I survive the withdrawal, maybe the primitive conditions will help me focus more on my violin skills, which are in need of serious attention before next fall when I’m getting a new teacher. Altogether, I feel like a happy and useful person once again, unlike the happy and lazy person I was before. If I don’t fall off a cliff, I’ll hopefully be able to start my next semester as a more harmonic, skilled, and not to mention wealthier person. Wish me luck.

Congrats on getting a job. I should really start looking for one but that would require effort, which I’m not too keen on using.

Congrats on getting a job! Moving out really doesn’t take that long, I did it in about two days. Good luck, and enjoy the mountains! :D

Congratulations on your new job, and hopefully the postman will be willing to deliver the seventh book to you (: Enjoy the mountains while you’re there, even though I know I wouldn’t be able to stand the ‘no cinemas’ part, I love movies.

Wow, that sounds like a great job, congrats. I love Norway. I went there with my parents about four years ago. We preferred sleeping in a tent rather than a cabin, though. ;)

I’ll have to wait for the paperback version of Harry Potter to come out, because I don’t like hardcover and I’ve got all the others in paperback, so yeah. Poor me, heh.

Good luck with the job and I hope you have great summer!

    Gratz! Is it full-time then?
Ah wonderful. I wanna have one, too. ;-) I imagine the feeling to work and earn money is great. Although it comes at cost (the internet-access > ouch) lol

Congratulations on your new job - I hope you are feeling comfy getting into it all. It sounds like a really interesting job with lots of interaction. Can you get me a discount if I come by Norway?
