Holidays upside down
Now, why is it that holidays and weekends always seem to be designed in a way that does not fit your needs? On weekends, I always plan to do this and this on Saturday, and then have a nice rest on Sunday. It always turns out that I’m too tired from the week to get much done on Saturday, and I end up stressing on Sunday because soon it will be Monday again. And lo and behold, the Easter holiday seems to present the same problem. I was pretty tired at the start of the holidays, but by now I’m feeling somewhat rested and ready to start working. Then I realize, this is exactly the time when the real holiday starts, this is the time where I should be with my family, not do homework. The world just doesn’t seem to fit my schedule.
One solution to this problem would be to make a time machine, go back in time and ask Jesus kindly to rise one day earlier, to fit my schedule. Because that might prove a bit hard, I’ll have to hope that the world will cope with my resting habits and accept that I need to do some things my way. I once heard about an interesting interpretation of the third commandment (the one about resting on Sundays), which went something like this: “don’t consider yourself to be above God. When even he needed to rest, you do to”. For me, that makes sense, after all, what are holidays really about? I believe they are supposed to be about taking a break and experiencing something different (see my last post), not about showing how great you are, making the best food, the best decorations or painting a million eggs at a specific time. So, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going back to work on my time machine.

You work on that time machine, and I’ll figure out how to make more hours in the day. I know how you feel. I’ve been doing work non-stop for a week now and I’m just tired now! But I don’t have much family here so it doesn’t matter too much.

I feel the same way. I feel I work all the time… or at least procrastinate work all the time (and procrastinating is hard work), but you should definitely take a break every once in a while.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just pause time and get what we need done at our own pace instead of rushing about to get things done to suit other people and their schedules? I’ve always wanted to pause time haha The older I get though the more I realize that I’m afraid of messing with time too much ’cause it might bite me in the rump

Hehe, I love this entry, and I agree! I tend to wait until the last minute to get things done, when I should be getting them done as quickly as possible so I can have time to do whatever I want. Oh well, I never learn. I think it would help if the weekends were at least a day longer.

I’ve been through this a couple of times in my head and have come to the conclusion that a time stopper would actually be easier to make, and it gives the same result without the temptation of changing the past, which could lead to somebody losing their leg.

I thought I was the only person who thought that way about Holidays. There’s no resting in the world today. It’s busy busy busy or Holidays. meh.

I seem to remember some stupid movie I watched about a person with a time-stopper, it didn’t work very well, messing with time usually doesn’t. However, a longer weekend isn’t a bad idea, remind me of that when I become president

I think I can relate to your entry. I’m also like that, feeling like time is not enough for me to do everything I need to do, and of course it leaves me no spare time to relax. And when you finish working on your time machine… err, lend it to me okay? Lol. Kidding… I just have some mess to fix in my past..
