Can I have my book now please?

Jul 26

This is the story of a famous book, a slightly frustrated fan and some desolated mountain areas. Once upon a time there was a girl who worked high up in the mountains, so she decided to order the last Harry Potter book through the Internet. This seemed like a good idea, until she discovered that the store had decided to automatically send the book to her home address, which is not very helpful because she is currently living in another part of the country. So the girl decided to ask her mum to forward the book, but then discovered that said mum did not return from holiday soon enough to be able to send the book so that it would arrive for the girl’s day off. She then called all her friends, and one of them was kind enough to send her copy on the same day, and the girl also postpones her day off, so that the post has two whole days to transport a book across a distance that takes about five hours by bus.

Two days later, the girl sits on the stairs, waiting anxiously for the post, and when it eventually comes, she runs to the mailbox, eager to start reading. It only takes a few seconds for the truth to sink in - there is no book there! Instead of screaming to the post lady or sending a heap of smelly socks to the postal service, which was her initial desire when the book didn’t appear, the girl decides to travel to the nearest place that actually has a bookshop. She almost runs into the store, only to be told politely that the book is sold out. Seems like no one thought about the fact that a Harry Potter book might sell a bit more than other books. Well, the girl, not willing to give up just yet, decided to try the next village, and thereby discovered that the bus has a fixed minimum fare, which was one of the reasons that she managed to travel too far, seems like the village was really only a few kilometers away. She now finds herself stranded in a place that consists of a gas station and a roundabout, and she is beginning to give up.

The hunt culminates with the first good thing to happen all day, the girl finds a bus stop and the bus that goes back comes pretty soon. The girl, being quite sad about not getting hold of the book after spending quite a bit of money on bus fares, now just wants to go back to where she started, lie down on the sofa and feel sorry for herself. The girl drops down on an empty seat, only to find that the boy sitting beside her is reading; drum roll, the very book she has been hunting for all day. Girl doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry, and eventually ends up on the sofa, watching TV and eating too much candy for the rest of the evening. Until she gets to bury her nose deep in a copy of the book for hours without end, she will not live happily ever after.

Hehe, stakkars deg.

Oh man, I think I would go crazy; not over Harry Potter, per say, but I’ve had my fair share of moments like this.

I actually didn’t even read the 7th book, and I know everything that happens anyway. Why? Because two days after it came out, twenty people messaged me, e-mailed me, or called me wanting to talk about it.
